• Before the start of the procedure, informing the doctor of any medication you are consuming is critical. Medications such as Isotretinoin (Accutane) for the treatment of acne could increase the risk of scarring and something as unsuspecting as aspirin could increase the risk of bleeding.

• Always keep in mind that a board-certified healthcare practitioner or a licensed medical doctor should carry out the procedure to ensure safety is maintained. As with any procedure, there are some risks. For example, skin resurfacing can result in abnormal healing and in extremely rare situations, infection could set in. Due to the heat of the laser injuries such as burns could occur. Some might find that they are more prone to cold sore or acne outbreaks and in some cases, itching. Viral, bacterial and fungal infections could occur after the treatment too. However, as uncommon as these outcomes are, and the chances of experiencing such effects is avoidable, maintaining awareness of such repercussions is crucial.
• Generally, the larger the area requiring treatment, the deeper the laser has to penetrate. This naturally results in an extended recovery time. It is also not uncommon to find your skin an alarming red with scabs forming over the skin’s surface and slight peeling in certain places. Use ice packs to calm irritated skin and reduce swelling. While it is not necessary to stay home, avoidance of places such as gyms, where germs are in higher concentration, is advised to avoid incurring a greater risk of infection.

• For treatments that do not require prolonged periods under powerful lasers, clients can look forward to a quicker recovery time and can avoid side effects like skin peeling or crusting which are bound to happen with more aggressive lasers that can ablate the skin’s surface and cause such conditions to last for about a week. Also, with stronger lasers, there are other side effects to factor in; burning sensations, bumps, rashes, swelling, infections and scarring could precede the pink of healing skin.

What is the duration of the procedure?

Including the cleansing of skin, about 30 minutes would suffice.

Is there any downtime for Pro Laser?

There may be a pinkish flush right after the laser but it will dissipate quickly. Dubbed as a lunchtime procedure, one can resume normal activities after doing this procedure.  

Are there any requirements prior to the commencement of treatment?

No, there are no requirements prior to the start of the treatment.

How many sessions do I require in order to see results?

Depending on the condition of the skin, about 10 to 20 sessions of Pro Laser are recommended to be done regularly every 3-4 weeks for skin treatment and maintenance.
